"Rudolf Nureyev Ballet Competition"

4-th International Ballet Competition – Rudolf Nureyev, 10-17 marz 2000, Budapest, Hungary

Repertoire

First round: One pdd or two different variations from among the following classical choreographies : La Bayadere, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Giselle, Grand Pas Classique (Gsovsky), The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, La Sylphide (Bournonville or Lacotte version), The Flames of Paris (pdd), Coppelia, Esmeralda, Paquita, La Fille mal Gardйe (Petipa or Ashton or Lazzini or Spoerli version), Flower Festival of Genzan o pdd (or any other Bournonville), Les Sylphides (Chopiniana), Raymonda, and any other rarely seen or „unknown” Petipa choreographies.

Second round: One pdd or two variations (different from the first round) from any major twentieth-century choreographer’s works from Fokine to Forsythe which are stylistically based on classical techniques (i.e.: pointe for females): Ashton, Balanchine, Cranko, Fokine, Massine, Milloss, Lifar, Lichine (Graduation Ball only), MacMillan, Dollar (The Duel pdd only), Tudor, Bajart, Petit, Robbins, Neumeier, Forsythe, Spoerli or other internationally known choreographers. Recommend the use of „Romeo and Julia” pdd or variations is this round.

Third (Final) round: One classical pdd or two classical variations, but different from those in the first round. Any choreography by Rudolf Nureyev is welcomed.

The following prizes will be awarded:

Grand Prix Rudolf Nureyev to the best male dancer Diploma and prize money 10.000 USD.

For male and female dancers: Diploma and First Prize 6.000 USD. Diploma and Second Prize 3.000 USD. Diploma and Third Prize 2.000 USD.

Special Prizes may be offered to the best young female and male dancer (born in or after 1982) Diploma and Special Prize 500 USD. There will be other Special Prizes, and diploma for all finalists.

Programme: First round on March 12 and 13. Second round on March 14 and 15 Third (Final) round on March 16. The Prize Giving Gala on March 17.

Ms Natalia Kalinitchenko (Russia) b. 1975 Graduated at the Ballet Academy of Kiev, after this she joined the Ukrainen National Opera and Ballet Company of Kiev. Varna IBC 1993 - diploma

Ms Oksana Kutcheruk (Ukraine) b. 1978 Graduated at the Ballet Academy of Kiev, after this - since 1999 - she joined the Mussorgsky ("Maly") Opera and Ballet Theatre in St. Petersburg. She took part in "Maya-98" and in Luxembourg International Ballet Competition (1999).

P>Ms Sandra Mьhlbauer (Austria) b. 1984 She is a student at the Conservato ry of Vienna. Serge Lifar Competition in Kiev (Third Prize) Lausanne 2000 Ballet Competition she was finalist with the Prix Encouragement.

Ms Renata Pavam (Brazil) b. 1983 Trained 8 years at the Centro Mineiro Dancas Classicas, Brazil. After the 1998 USA IBC, she joined the Jeune Ballet the France. II. Ms Kristyna Shishpor (Ukraine) b. 1984 Studies at the Ukrainan Dance Academy, Kiev

Mr Anton Bogov (Slovenia) b. 1975 In 1993 finished his ballet training in Almaty, Kazakhstan. From 1994 he joined the Japanese Ballet Theatre Ochi at Nagoya. Presently he is principal dancer at the Slovenian National Theatre in Maribor. Mr Dragos Michalcea (Romania) b. 1977 Between 1988-92 he studied at the Choreographic Academy of Bucharest, after that from 1992 to 1996 contiuned his studies at the Washington Kirov Academy. 1997-1998 he was soloist at the Universal Ballet in Soeul, from 1999 nominated to principal dancer. 5th Luxembourg IBC (Bronze medal)

Mr Roman Mikhalev (Russia) b. 1976 He finished his studies in 1995 at the Vaganova Ballet Academy, after that he has become member of the Mussorgsky ("Maly") Opera and Ballet Theatre. He took part in "Arabesque98" (Silver medal) and "Maya-98" (Bronze medal) ballet competitions.

Mr Yaroslav Salenko (Ukraine) b. 1981 Finished his ballet studies in Donetsk, and he joined the Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre Donetsk.

Mr Leonid Sarafanov (Ukraine) b. 1982 He is still in the graduation class at the Ballet Academy Kiev, but since 1999 he is alredy soloist at the Opera and Ballet Theatre of Kiev. Vaganova International Ballet Competition St Petersburg, 1998 - diploma.

The 5-th IBC Rudolf Nureyev will be held in Budapest two years later, 10-17 March 2002.
